Students from St. John’s University and a local dance group, the Wanted Ashiqz, joined efforts to create the university’s first Bollywood Fusion Dance Competition. The now annual competition was created to honor and remember Arvin Batra, who was both a member of the group and a student at the university. To help launch the show in its first year, the board reached out to me to help them develop the show’s branding.
Given that it was a fusion competition, I went with the direction of combining a colorful and vibrant look with old Bollywood imagery. I created various promotional materials for both the 2018 and 2019 shows, including the logo, ticket design, and poster. In addition, I made both the registration promo and recap videos for the show to be shared via YouTube and social media.
